Obedience Training & Behavior Modification

Philosophy: Your relationship with your dog will last a long time. Make that time the best it can be for both human and canine by teaching your dog to be a good citizen with the use of positive reinforcement techniques, desensitization,  and counter conditioning.
Many dogs end up in shelters, or worse yet, euthanized, simply because they were never properly trained and did not learn to live in harmony with their human family.

The Benefits of Obedience Training

The 5 week obedience course curriculum’s focus is on teaching to owner to teach their dog in the comfort of your own home at times that are well suited to your schedule. The methods used will employ positive reinforcement techniques.  You and your dog will learn the basic commands of sit, stay, down, come, leave it, door manners, and walking well on a leash. You will have the opportunity to troubleshoot any specific concerns or challenges that you may be encountering like housebreaking, separation anxiety,  jumping or nuisance barking. If you have a puppy, you will be encouraged to properly socialize it to many different real-life situations.
By the end of the obedience course, you and your dog will be well on your way to a harmonious, positive lifelong relationship!

Behavior modification sessions will focus on resolving various problems such as jumping, reactivity, fear, aggression, excessive barking and separation anxiety.

Massage Therapy

Philosophy: Whether a dog is young or old, healthy or ill, an athlete or a pet, all dogs can benefit from massage.  As a practitioner in the field of rehabilitative massage, combined with many years of being in the field of veterinary sciences, Canine Services can assist your pet as being a part of the rehabilitative team.

The Benefits of Massage Therapy

Improved Blood circulation – which assists the body to oxygenate the cells and remove metabolic wastes. Immune System stimulation-via the Manual Lymphatic Drainage technique.

Muscle and joint maintenance - massage can loosen tight, constricted muscles, decrease pain, and increase range-of-motion through proper stretching techniques.

Behavior- massage can relax an anxious dog, and can better acclimate dogs to human touch-a benefit for some dogs that are rescued.

For Rehabilitation- as a member of the rehabilitative team, the canine massage therapist can assist in helping with:

Sports injuries

Arthritis and other orthopedic conditions like hip dyplasia

Pre and post operative care

Aging and inactivity

Important to Note- Massage is never intended to replace regular veterinary care. Canine Services requires a veterinary clearance prior to a full massage session.

Pre-adoption, Purchase Counseling + Temperament Testing

Philosophy: The commitment for owning a dog is significant and long term. The decision to adopt or purchase a puppy or adult dog should not be taken lightly. There are specific breeds and temperaments that are best suited for the specific lifestyles and expectations of their owners.  Canine Services can help guide you to the best match possible!
